I have some cool musical news!
It’s been a busy few weeks, musically and otherwise! I haven’t been the best about writing in this space. What have I been up to?
Road-tripping:
Backpacking:
Gardening:
And, yes, writing and playing music…!
Yesterday the Portland Saxophone Ensemble premiered my short piece Romp as a part of the Chamber Music Northwest 2024 Summer Festival. This is a group I’ve been a part of for several years and I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such a skilled and passionate cast of musicians. And even more fortunate to have them apply their talent and attention to some of my music. Take a listen to the lovely results below!
Some program notes to support your listening:
I posted a few times previously about how this piece came to be. And I’m still working up the arrangement of this music for band, which I think will be very effective! (Listen to excerpt below)
I’m off to backpack near Mt. Jefferson for the weekend, but I anticipate having a few interesting (and regular!) updates soon—a product of a couple projects coming to fruition.
I hope you all are taking some time this summer to recharge your musical (and other) batteries!
